Double Bonus!

Love ‘use it or loose it’ time….have an extra day off this week, TODAY TODAY TODAY!!!
After last Fridays Open House at the office all of our Holiday commitments are complete~at least the ones we are responsible for. What a nice feeling to know that we can sit back and enjoy Christmas time without pressure this year. Ah…big sigh of relief…ahhhhhh.
Today we are headed out to the backyard to work on finishing up the fence boards. We hired out getting the posts set and will finish up the rails and boards ourselves. We are so very excited to have the backyard enclosed again. What a hassle we have been through since September. Thank you SOPO for allowing me to whine and whine and whine about this whole ordeal. Next spring we will be so very thankful to have the fencing building behind us so we can just jump right in with the re-landscaping of the North side of the yard. We are excited about the changes and will enjoy the process…including the hardwork today and this wknd will require.
Very little is being done in MCM~~but~~ I have managed to get a few smaller projects moved along. I made two identical ME wallhangings, one for me and one for my bestest of all bestest buds, MOTF. Mine is on my kitchen wall, MOTF’s will head to SanDiego via snail mail this afternoon. The Four Patch Posey that has a whole story of its own has been made into a top, quilted by my pal Lauri, and almost has the binding finished (awaiting the addition of the label)~~this will be a bday/Christmas gift to our eldery neighbor who has had to leave her home after a series of strokes and is now living in an assisted living facility. What amazing neighbors she and her late hubby had been to us since we purchased our home in 1983. We missed her from the very day she was moved. Hopefully this 4PP lap quilt will remind her on a daily basis how much we love her, and certainly how much we miss her being right next door.
I have also been setting aside time each week to make pillowcases. All People Quilt has a challenge “Make a Pillowcase Make a Difference” . Quoting the promo: “Every pillowcase can make a difference in your community. A pillowcase can provide comfort for a cancer patient, hope for a foster child, encouragement for a battered woman, or beauty for a nursing home resident.“ I am thrilled to help in this way as getting a quilt to the finished stage is a bit much for me right now but a pillowcase takes just a few minutes~down to making 2-3 in an hour, depending on how long it takes to pull from the stash. AND…It is moving a bit of said stash out~which needs to happen as well. Anyone else working on this One Million Pillowcase Challenge???
No pictures at this point, might get some uploaded this wknd…we shall see how that goes.
Ed cooked down and picked the turkey carcass from Thanksgiving, together we chopped, sliced and diced veggies. Yesterday he canned 12 quarts of yummy turkey soup which we will enjoy throughout the chilly winter months. Turkey soup~thickened up a bit for a sauce over potatoes, used in casseroles…yummy! Have you ever made noodles from scratch??? They are the most yummy-i-est ever! I am thinking a batch of noodles will be made sometime during my vacation in a couple of weeks. Yep…I am thinking pretty seriously about this.
EDITED:
We didn’t make it to the backyard…nope…didn’t even get our boots on before the rain came…it didn’t let up so we switched our Sunday plans for our Friday plans and headed into town. Picked up water, took pkgs to the PO, went to the furniture store, dropped film off at Wally, picked up a Site to Store order, JCPenneys to get our RoseBowl garb, quick in and out at Joanns~~ok, not so quick as we ran into pals we hadn’t seen in a while so had to chat a while~~stop at Freds (came our emtpy handed) ~ then a run through MickeyD’s for eggnog shakes YUM!!!
I am tired~Ed is tuckered out from following me…I think tonight will be a movie night…

Sorry that the fence project was halted by rain so maybe you had better luck today?
Sounds like you are doing well with the pillowcase project! Stash busting while you make something pretty for someone in need.
I would love to try to make some homemade noodles and have seen recipes to give it a whirl. I think DJ would love them since he really likes the thick Amish style ones that I buy occasionally from the nearby dairy. I have had a manual pasta roller for years but never used it. One of my dad’s sisters is known for her noodle making—I ahould ask her for some helpful hints or recipe next time I’m home. Do you have the attachment that comes with the kitchenaid for this?

Busy busy.. that is you! Sometimes a change in plans works better - when it is raining, DONT do what the Ducks do! Stay out of the rain!! The fence will be done soon and just the way you wanted it to begin with - YOUR WAY!!!
